Police are growing increasingly worried for the welfare of a 79-year-old woman who has gone missing in Devon.

Margaret Haverson, of Newton St Cyres, is thought to have boarded a bus to Exeter on Thursday afternoon to go shopping but has not been seen since.

Police described her as "vulnerable" because of her age and have scrambled the force helicopter to look for her.

The neighbourhood where she lives and places she is known to frequent have also been searched but to no avail.

Officers are now appealing for anyone who may have seen her since 1500 GMT on Thursday to get in touch.

The pensioner, who is 5ft 2in (1.57m) tall, walks with a stoop and has white hair.

She was last seen wearing a light coloured headscarf, a three-quarter-length coat and was carrying a blue and yellow carrier bag.
