Fairytale ending for towers plan

Trago Mills
Trago's towers are part of its identity, said planners

Department store Trago Mills has won planning permission for five new fairytale-style towers at its store near Newton Abbot in Devon.

Teignbridge Council planners had been advised to refuse the idea, but the planning committee allowed it.

Howard Milton, chairman of the committee, told BBC News: "It is part of their corporate identity and they should be treated that way.

"A commonsense approach has been taken to a sensitive situation."

Trago Mills also has outlets in Falmouth and on the outskirts of Liskeard in Cornwall.
