Assault woman suffers eye injury

A woman is recovering from a serious eye injury after being attacked in an "unprovoked" assault in Looe, Cornwall, said police.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the incident in the early hours of 19 October to come forward.

The 34-year-old local woman was knocked unconscious as she walked along Shutta Road in East Looe.

A 22-year-old man and three girls, aged 15, 16 and 19, were later arrested and released on bail until 16 December.

The victim suffered an injury to her left eye and it is not yet known whether her sight will be permanently affected by the assault.
