More Tarka Line services planned

Rail services on North Devon's scenic Tarka Line are to be improved to cater for increasing demand.

First Great Western say from mid-December two additional trains will run each way between Barnstaple and Exeter, allowing hourly departures.

Passenger numbers on the line have risen by 50% since 2001, with 320,000 journeys expected this year.

The news has been welcomed by passengers, who have complained about overcrowding in the past.
