Man's bid to save woman from fire

An elderly woman had to be rescued from a house fire in Devon and a neighbour was injured kicking in a door trying to reach her.

He was alerted to the fire in Doctor's Road, Brixham by the alarm going off and smashed a hole through the front door but was unable to reach the woman.

He and another neighbour then attempted to put the fire out with fire extinguishers.

The woman was rescued by firefighters and treated for smoke inhalation.
