Four held after A38 police chase

A number of police cars and the force helicopter have been involved in a pursuit along the A38 in Devon.

They were following a vehicle whose occupants were believed to have been involved in a jewellery shop robbery in Plymouth city centre at about 1500 BST.

Police said the suspect vehicle was stopped off the A38 in the Chudleigh Knighton area at about 1540 BST.

A police spokesperson confirmed that four men from the vehicle were in custody in connection with the robbery.

The four - aged 15, 16, 17, and 21 and all from the London area - are in custody at Charles Cross Police Station.

Police are also appealing for anyone who may have seen anything thrown from the vehicle during the chase.

Officers believe items - possibly clothing - were thrown from the moving car.

"Anyone who witnessed this or who may have any idea where the items are is asked to contact police so that officer can recover the items - please do not attempt to recover any items personally for obvious reasons," a police spokesman said.
