The electronic checkpoints will automatically record runners' times

A network of running trails with electronic checkpoints has been launched in Devon today.
The Trail-Blaze courses, which are thought to be the first of their kind in the country, have been set up around the Slapton Line and East Portlemouth.
Runners wear wristbands with keys which are inserted into checkpoints. Times are recorded on a website where they can be compared with other runners.
It has been developed by Endurancelife, based in Kingsbridge.
Its director, Andrew Barker, said the aim was to encourage people to enjoy the benefits of exercising in stunning, natural settings.
'Inspire performances'
"It is a great new way for people to get fit and stay motivated," he said.
"By using the website to chart their progress and inspire ever faster performances, we hope Trail-Blaze will help users of all ages and abilities to better realise their fitness goals."
The courses will range from two to 24 miles (3km to 39km) in length, beginning and ending in Torcross.
People wanting to run the courses can hire an electronic key from £1 at the cafe in Torcross.
Proceeds from the first month will be donated to East Prawle Coastwatch.
