Helicopter rescues cliff fall man

A helicopter which helped in the search for a 14-year-old diver missing off the Devon coast has been involved in another rescue.

The RAF helicopter from RMB Chivenor had been released from the search at Berry Head to refuel when it was tasked to airlift a man to safety.

The 31-year-old had been trapped on rocks at Blackpool Sands for more than four hours, Brixham Coastguard said.

The man was treated for cuts and grazes by paramedics.

A coastguard spokesman said the man, who was on holiday in Dartmouth, had slipped and fallen on to the rocks when he tried to retrieve a bag that had fallen down a gulley.
