Car-sharing scheme scoops award

A car-sharing initiative by councils in Devon has scooped a national prize.

Carshare Devon won the National Liftshare Day challenge for its work in attracting new members.

The scheme by Devon County Council, in partnership with Plymouth City Council and Torbay Council, signed up 235 new car sharers between 7 and 14 June.

The aim is to maximise people's travel options, reduce the number of cars on the roads, save money and protecting the environment by reducing pollution.
