A man has been arrested in connection with an attack on a woman at a Devon beauty spot.

The victim, who is in her 30s, was assaulted on a footpath next to the River Otter, near Clapper lane, in Honiton last Monday afternoon.

The woman, who was walking her dog, told police she was grabbed from behind and pulled to the ground. She escaped with minor injuries.

A 44-year-old man has been arrested and released on police bail until October.

Officers investigating the assault said the area was popular with dog walkers and have issued an appeal for witnesses.

They would also like to speak to the owner of a blue Saab which was parked in a layby near the foot path.
