Cliff teenagers lifted to safety

Two teenagers stranded on a ledge 100ft up a cliff in Devon were airlifted to safety by helicopter.

The RNLI Lyme Regis lifeboat trained its searchlights on the cliff as an RAF Chivenor helicopter winched the pair off Haven Cliff in Axmouth.

The pair had apparently climbed the cliff after collecting driftwood on Saturday night.

The helicopter was called in when it was realised it would be too dangerous to send in a cliff rescue team.
