Main police custody centres full

Devon and Cornwall police say officers have made 219 arrests so far this weekend leaving most of the force area's main custody centres full.

There were disturbances at Winkleigh and Kingsbridge fairs on Saturday and public order problems across Devon.

A female officer suffered minor injuries after tackling trouble at Winkleigh Fair.

And three men were arrested for public order offences after trouble at Kingsbridge Fair.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesman: "It is believed the three men concerned smashed glass bottles and then threatened members of the public with the glass."

Police said at the start of the weekend that they would be cracking down on drink-related disorder and rowdiness in the run-up to the school holidays.
