Father and sons get 10-year Asbos

Three members of a family described in court as "possibly the most dysfunctional in Devon" have been given 10-year anti-social behaviour orders.

Leslie Brien, 48, and his three sons Dean, 26, Darren, 23, and Jimmy, 19, were given interim Asbos last year.

Magistrates in Torquay heard about their regularly violent behaviour towards their neighbours in Buckfastleigh and other residents.

After a full hearing only Jimmy avoided being given the Asbo.

He did not appear in court because of mental health issues - his interim Asbo was extended until 27 June.

'Strict conditions'

Leslie, Darren and Jimmy have all been banned from entering Buckfastleigh.

The three men left Teignbridge after the interim Asbos were granted last December.

They are also banned from causing noise or disturbance and Dean has been banned from parking so as to "cause a restriction to the right of others to pass freely".

They are also banned from using offensive language, fighting or shouting in a public place.

Local councillor, Stuart Barker, said: "Having been dealing with this problem for over two years, working with the local police and several of the residents affected to address this issue I am delighted with the result of this hearing and the strict conditions applied in the Asbos."
