Police name teenage moped victim

A family tribute said Ryan was loved for his spirit of adventure

A teenage moped rider killed in an accident on the A377 in Devon has been named by police.

Ryan Johnston from Crediton died on Wednesday morning after his 50CC moped was involved in a collision with an X-type Jaguar at Newton St Cyres.

The accident, which happened at about 0830 BST, closed the road for more than nine hours. Police have appealed for witnesses.

The Johnston family said Ryan was a son, brother and friend to be proud of.

His parents, Ian and Jill Johnston, said their son had the rest of his life to look forward to.

Trainee mechanic

In a written tribute, his family said: "He was a warm, caring boy, easy to talk to and a pleasure to be with.

"He was loved by all his friends and family for his jokes and spirit of adventure.

"He has touched the lives of many and will be sadly missed by everyone he knew."

The teenager was a trainee motor mechanic who attended a day release college in Honiton.
