Man seriously hurt in park attack

A man is in a serious condition after he was attacked in a Devon seaside town.

The attack happened at lunchtime on Friday in Victoria Park, Paignton.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesman said it was an "extremely serious assault" although there are no further details.

Victoria Park has been closed to the public while an investigation continues by the police, who are appealing for witnesses.
