The Lib Dems now have 13 seats on the council

The Liberal Democrats could take control of Exeter City Council, even though the party only has a majority of one seat.

The Lib Dems became the largest group on the council after last week's local elections.

The party now have 13 seats, the Conservatives have 12, Labour have 11 and the Liberals have four.

The result meant no party won overall control but the Lib Dems could take charge as a minority administration.

The council leadership issue will be decided at Exeter Council's annual meeting next Tuesday.

The Labour Party previously had control of the council, but after losing three seats in the local election it dropped to third place.
