Teacher sacked for pupil sex act
A married female teacher who committed a sex act with a teenage boy at a Devon school has been sacked.

Jo Gorman, 28, was suspended from her job as an English teacher at Paignton Community and Sports College in south Devon in November last year.

She was cautioned by police for "intentional sexual touching by a person in a position of trust".

Police have decided not to prosecute, but she was sacked after a disciplinary investigation by the school.

Principal Jane English said: "On completion of the police investigation, the college undertook its own investigation under its grievance and disciplinary procedure.

"The outcome of this investigation resulted in Mrs Gorman being dismissed from the college."

Devon and Cornwall Police investigated a complaint of an alleged inappropriate relationship with the pupil before handing the case file to the school for its investigation.

It is understood that Mrs Gorman, who lives in Paignton, will not appeal against her dismissal.
