Police are asking for willing puppy-carers to come forward
Volunteers are needed to take care of a Devon and Cornwall German Shepherd police puppy for up to a year.

The force is looking for anyone who can offer one of its pups an urban home environment with a secure garden and a caring, friendly, atmosphere.

Its part of the police Puppy Development Scheme where animals stay before becoming trained police dogs.

Sgt Paul Glennon said: "The aim is to prepare the puppy for life as a confident and social police dog."

Police said one of the criteria is that the volunteers have no other dogs living in the house.

Sgt Glennon added: "The Force will provide dog food and pay any veterinary costs incurred so all that we require of carers is that the puppies get sufficient exercise and regular grooming."
