Police are handing out stickers and albums as a way of helping youngsters identify their local policing team.

The Cop Card scheme is being launched in Brixham by the Devon and Cornwall force on Friday.

More than 800 youngsters aged between seven and 11 will be able to ask for the blank 30-space album.

Officers will also hand over a sticker showing members of their team after the child has answered a question about policing or personal safety.

Fingerprints

The stickers will feature members of the neighbourhood team, specialist police roles and functions - including the dog unit and scenes of crime specialists. The Chief Constable and other officers will also be featured.

When they have completed their albums, the children can have their fingerprint taken at Brixham police station and register their details to win a VIP trip to the force's headquarters in Exeter.

Chief Constable Stephen Otter said: "This is an excellent and innovative way of working with younger people.

"It gives the children the opportunity to find out more about the police service and what we do, whilst giving us the opportunity to interact with children in the town.

"As one of the stickers to collect features me, if any schoolchildren spot me, they can ask for my sticker."
