A former headmaster of a Devon school has appeared in court charged with sexually assaulting girls.
Alfred Thomas Robinson, 87, faces 18 specimen charges relating to alleged offences against nine girls between 1971 and 1980.
Mr Robinson, of Chineway Gardens in Ottery St Mary, entered no pleas at Exeter Magistrates' Court.
He was granted unconditional bail and the case is due to be heard at Exeter Crown Court in two months' time.
The defendant, who walks with the aid of a stick, was helped into court by his solicitor.
