Lawyers study Genette police file
Genette Tate
Genette Tate is Britain's longest-running missing person
Police have confirmed a file into the murder 29 years ago of Devon teenager Genette Tate has been handed to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).

Devon and Cornwall Police said the file was submitted after an interview with a man in 2005.

Genette, 13, disappeared in 1978 on a paper round in Aylesbeare, near Exeter.

In 2005, Robert Black, a convicted child-killer serving 10 life sentences, was questioned by police in connection with Genette's disappearance.

The CPS unit will now decide if someone will stand trial for her murder.

Genette's body has never been found and the mystery remains Britain's longest missing persons inquiry.

In a statement from Devon and Cornwall Police, officers said: "Both parents have been informed of this development in the ongoing investigation into Genette's disappearance from Aylesbeare in 1978."
