Possible reprieve for A30 route
Traffic jam
Campaigners continue to call for more dual carriageway on the A30
The Southwest Regional Assembly is to review its decision not to make the A30 in Cornwall a dual-carriageway.

The scheme, between Temple and Bodmin, will be included for consideration in a list of priority road plans next year.

The news comes after the A30 Action Group collected 3,000 signatures calling for the road to be dualled.

Transport spokesperson for the Assembly confirmed the route would be reviewed, but A30 campaigners feel it is unlikely the scheme will be approved.

At the beginning of the month, business leaders from Devon and Cornwall called for an urgent review of the way accidents on major roads are dealt with.

They said businesses suffer when roads are closed for hours.

The message comes after a number of accidents on the A30 and other major routes.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said the force had to spend time investigating after each crash.
