Cliff-fall dog winched to safety
A dog has been rescued after falling 30ft (9m) from cliffs in Devon.

Emergency services were alerted by the dog's owners on Tuesday night when their pet went over high cliffs at Orcombe Point, near Exmouth.

The holidaymakers, from Wolverhampton, are staying at the Sandy Bay holiday camp in Exmouth.

A coastguard unit used specialist equipment to winch a rescuer over the cliff and bring the poodle to safety. The dog was unhurt.

Police have reminded holidaymakers and local people to look after their pets when walking near cliffs.

Sgt Matt Helm said: "There is no fencing and they are highly unstable due to their geological make up.

"Enjoy the scenery and the walks, but with safety in mind."
