First shops open at £220m centre
Artistic impression of the Princesshay development
The centre is due to open in the autumn
The first shops and restaurants are being opened at a new £220m complex under construction in a Devon city.

The Princesshay shopping centre in Exeter is expected to be fully open in the autumn, and will house about 60 retail and food outlets.

As part of the first development phase, Bedford Street was repaved and an outdoor seating area created.

Local bands and street entertainers were due to perform at Monday's opening ceremony at Princesshay Square.

The redevelopment of the 13-acre Princesshay site represents the largest single investment in regeneration in the city's history and includes plans for 60 new shops and restaurants.
