CCTV footage leading to arrests
Nearly 500 people were arrested in a Devon town in one year after being caught on CCTV cameras.

Newton Abbot's CCTV system is run in a partnership between the police, Teignbridge District Council and the town's business security group.

The council said 481 arrests were made between April 2006 and 2007 in connection with offences including shoplifting caught on cameras.

Goods worth an estimated 16,000 were recovered during the 12 month period.
