A rose garden at the heart of an historic Devon park is to be restored to its former glory.
A £36,000 grant from the Devonport Regeneration Company Partnership will be used to carry out the work on the garden at Devonport Park in Plymouth.
The original S-shaped rose beds will be replanted at the garden, which was created in the Victorian era.
The city council will work with the Friends of Devonport Park to re-design and restore the area.
Other work could include restoring original paths and reducing a high hedge, which cuts the garden off from the rest of the park and makes people feel unsafe.
Councillor Chris Mavin said: "There has been a lot of support in the community for this to happen, particularly from our older residents who have not been in the park for some time."
The area has been a park since 1858.
Once military land, the War Department agreed to it becoming a park for people living in Stoke and Devonport.
