Pensioner, 82, vows to fight tax
Albert Vension
Albert Venison says he would rather go to jail than pay tax arrears
Dozens of pensioners in Devon have protested against what they see as unfair rates of Council tax.

Pensioner Albert Venison has vowed to go to jail over his tax dispute. The 82-year-old is refusing to pay £276 from last year's tax on his bungalow.

Magistrates in Honiton imposed a liability order requiring him to pay the arrears, but not £35 in costs.

Members of the Devon Pensioners' Action Forum were also present. More than 30 of them protested outside the court.

But Mr Venison said: "I'm prepared to go to jail in this battle against the tax."
