A new highways control centre is being reopened in Devon after it underwent a £300,000 refurbishment.
Devon's Highway Operations Control Centre based at County Hall in Exeter operates around the clock.
The centre deals with dangers and obstructions on the roads and keeps traffic flowing and reopens Thursday.
The centre was opened in the late 1980s and as part of the revamp the equipment has been replaced to provide the latest in IT systems.
It means the centre meets the requirements of the new Traffic Management Act.
The centre utilises a range of information including satellite images from the county's 35 roadside weather stations, closed circuit television pictures from 40 locations and webcams at another 30.
The centre is be opened by transport minister Tom Harris.
