Dobwalls bypass is given go-ahead
Traffic jam at Dobwalls
About 21,000 vehicles a day travel through Dobwalls
One of the longest-awaited bypass schemes in the South West has finally been given government approval.

About 21,000 vehicles a day come through Dobwalls, just west of Liskeard, Cornwall. During the tourism season, that increases by 20% or more.

The need for a bypass was first identified in the 1960s.

The approval of the £33m scheme follows a public inquiry which was held in January. It heard that local support for the scheme was overwhelming.

The MP for South East Cornwall, Colin Breed, said the decision was a great day for Dobwalls.
