Girl, 13, impaled on fence spike
A 13-year-old girl was impaled on a metal spike as she climbed over a fence in Devon.

Fire crews took 45 minutes to free the girl from the 5ft fence at Halsdon Road in Exmouth. The spike was embedded 5in in her thigh.

The spike was later removed by surgeons at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital where the girl is reported to be in a comfortable condition.

The road was closed by police throughout the incident on Saturday.
