This Cattedown house lost a tile in a lightning strike
Engineers are working to restore power to thousands of homes in Devon after lightning took out their supply.

There were several strikes on the electricity network and across the county hundreds of homes lost their power temporarily.

The most serious problem was in Bishopsteignton where about 500 properties lost their supply.

The roof of a house in Cattedown, Plymouth was damaged by the lightning, but no-one was injured.

Western Power Distribution's emergency number for concerned customers is 0800 365 900.
