Consultation over airport future
Plymouth Airport runway
Options to extend the runway are included in the study
People in Plymouth are being asked to get involved in a consultation over the future of the local airport as part of a plan to develop the city.

Plymouth City Council's Airport Study says without infrastructure investment, its current layout will not be able to support new generations of aircraft.

It also would not comply with the Civil Aviation Authority's safety standards.

For the next six weeks, people will be able to comment to the council about planning proposals.

The airport study is part of the council's Core Strategy on the development of Plymouth.

It considers a range of scenarios, ranging from a "do nothing" option, to expanding the airport with an extended runway.

Residents are also being encouraged to have their say on transport, shopping and employment in the city.
