Moorland acres destroyed in fire

Police are investigating a suspected arson attack after a large moorland fire in Devon.

The blaze started on moorland at Haytor, on the outskirts of Manaton, in the early hours of Monday.

About 15 acres (six hectares) of land were damaged following the fire, which was extinguished within an hour by Devon Fire and Rescue Service.

A police spokesman said that officers in Newton Abbot were treating the fire as suspicious.
