City set for new discount store

A discount department store with more than 40 branches in the UK is to open a new branch in Plymouth.

TJ Hughes says it has been looking for a site in the city for some time and hopes to open in April.

TJ Hughes sells men's, women's and children's fashions along with homewares and electrical goods.

The store is to take over the 55,000 sq ft Littlewoods site at the western end of the city centre and will employ about 70 staff.
