New attempts will be made to recapture 25 wild boar which remain on the loose in north Devon.
More than 100 wild boar were released by animal extremists
It follows a meeting on Wednesday involving police, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and local councils.
Animal acivists released 102 boar before Christmas from Woodland Wild Boar Farm, near South Molton.
About half the herd have been recaptured and 22 shot, but the rest are damaging farmland rooting for food.
Last week Alan Dedames, who runs the Woodland Wild Boar Farm, called on a local hunt to carry out a round up.
But after several hours only one boar was flushed out and he made his own way back to the farm.
A Defra spokesman said they would be providing advice and guidance on ways to recapture the animals.
Mr Dedames said: "It is worthwhile looking for them, but it will be more and more difficult as time goes on.
"If we cannot find them they are going to have to be left out there."
