Police are investigating reports that a man linked to Plymouth serial paedophile William Goad has been found dead in France.
Some of Goad's victims were as young as eight years old
Eddie Pratt, 56, is believed to have been found hanged in Loudeac, Brittany.
He was wanted for questioning in connection with the activities of Goad, jailed for life after sexually abusing young boys over a 40-year period.
Pratt was linked to millionaire Goad in a BBC Panorama documentary broadcast in February this year.
A Devon and Cornwall Police spokeswoman said: "Police in Plymouth are now carrying out inquiries to establish the formal identification of the deceased male to find out whether the man is Eddie Pratt."
Goad, who ran shops and market stalls, was sentenced to life last October for each of 14 specimen counts of serious sex offences and three years for each of two counts of indecent assault.
A Foreign and Commonwealth Office spokesman confirmed that a Briton called Pratt had been found dead in Loudeac.
