Manufacturing restarts at pottery
Brannams Pottery
The factory recently celebrated its 125th anniversary
Production has restarted at a Devon pottery company which was forced to lay off half of its workforce.

CH Brannam in Barnstaple, which laid off 70 of its 110 workers in June, was bought a few months ago, but had not produced any new stock until now.

The 125-year-old company is now trading as Royal Barum Ware and is targeting DIY and garden centres.

The factory was mainly an importer until manufacturing restarted at the site using local Devon clay.

Simon Fox from the firm said: "It's very good news for the locality.

"We have preserved all the plant and equipment."

The company is not planning to recruit extra workers beyond the 40 not made redundant earlier this year.
