The Exeter Falcons held their last speedway meeting at the County Ground on Monday evening.
The County Ground is the fastest track in the country.
The track has been home to the Falcons since 1929 and only one world champion has failed to ride there.
The bikes, which have no brakes, can reach speeds of up to 90mph on the track which is the longest and fastest in the country.
The club hopes to build a new stadium in Chudleigh close to Harcombe House which cares for injured firefighters.
Falcons historian Tony Lethbridge said: "It's totally unique - there's nowhere like it that the public can get so close to the bikes.
"I had a friend from the Czech Republic come over to watch and he said 'You are within centimetres of the bikes and they're doing 80mph. It's just phenomenal.'"
