County set for spectacular autumn
It is being predicted that Devon could be in line for one of its most spectacular autumns ever.

Recent weather conditions over the summer could mean the trees will display fabulous colours over the next few weeks.

The forecast comes from BBC Autumnwatch, which is carrying out the biggest survey ever into the arrival of autumn across the UK.

It is asking members of the public to help with sightings.

Tim Sparks, from the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology in Cambridgeshire, is helping to co-ordinate research for the project.

He says the prediction is based on recent weather conditions.

He said: "It's a combination of sunshine, warm days and cool nights. That creates the ideal conditions for these very late autumns and the leaves staying on the trees."
