Man killed as car leaves the road

A man has died in a road accident on the A35 in east Devon.

His vehicle left the road near Axminster on Friday afternoon and careered over a high hedge trapping him underneath.

Police are appealing for the driver of a dark coloured BMW who was at the scene, but left before leaving his details, to contact them.

PC Alan Mobbs said: "This man might be an important witness for us, so we are asking for them to come forward."

Police said the driver was believed to be in his 20s.
