Two couples are recovering after they were injured in a six-vehicle crash on the A30 in west Devon.

Two people had to be airlifted to Plymouth's Derriford Hospital after being cut free from their car following the accident on Tuesday afternoon.

A 47-year-old London man fractured his pelvis and his 36-year-old wife fractured her collar bone.

Another couple, from Par in Cornwall, were taken to hospital with fractured bones.

Occupants of the other vehicles were treated at the scene for whiplash and minor cuts.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash on the westbound carriageway of the A30 between Stowford and Lifton at about 4pm on Tuesday to contact them.
