RAF rescue cover in north Devon will not be cut despite a review of military operations, says the government.
Crews from RMB Chivenor played a vital role in rescuing people from the recent floods in Boscastle.
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) says the future of the airfield and the Royal Marines at Chivenor are being considered as part of its review.
But an MoD spokesperson says search and rescue operations will not be affected by the review.
Search and rescue cover from RMB Chivenor is provided by Sea King helicopters of 22 Squadron.
