Divers resuming Charlotte search

Police have resumed their search in reservoirs for the body of a missing Devon teenager.

Divers have been scouring two reservoirs in Slade Valley near Ilfracombe for clues to the whereabouts of 17-year-old Charlotte Pinkney.

Water levels have been reduced by about 50% so divers may search the centre of the reservoirs more safely.

Search teams have already explored the water for a distance of 18 metres from the water's edge.

Public information

Devon and Cornwall Police said: "The lower reservoir will be searched first, before the level in the top reservoir is reduced by allowing some of its contents to fill the lower reservoir.

"The searches will take a number of days.

"It cannot be stressed enough that these searches are only part of a much wider search area, including the valley and countryside in the surrounding area.

"The searches are not speculative, and we still rely on information being supplied to the incident room from members of the public."

Charlotte was last seen leaving a party in Ilfracombe in the early hours of 28 February.

She was reported missing on 4 March, two days before her birthday, when she failed to contact her parents.

A 22-year-old man has been charged with Charlotte's murder.

Nicholas Rose, from Foreland View in Ilfracombe, appeared before Exeter Crown Court on 8 April.

He made no plea and was remanded in custody until June.
