Fire sparked at former Derbyshire Coalite factory

Firefighters are tackling a blaze at a former fuel processing factory in Derbyshire.

About 30 firefighters are on the scene at the former Coalite factory on Chesterfield Road, Shuttlewood.

Emergency services were alerted to the fire at 1710 BST by residents. The smoke plume could be seen from a vast distance, according to officers.

Complaints about smoke in the air have been received from residents, the fire and rescue service said.

It is not yet known how the fire started.
