Council plea over school parking

A council is urging motorists not to park on pavements while picking up school children.

North Kesteven District Council sid it has had complaints about vehicles blocking footpaths near schools.

Wheelchair and mobility scooter users have said it is hard or impossible to get past the vehicles.

A council spokesperson said: "We are not telling parents they cannot park outside schools, simply asking that they consider others."

Councillor Dennis Roberts, deputy leader of the council, said: "Parking on pavements, no matter what the length of time, can cause great difficulty and be very dangerous for wheelchair and mobility scooter users.

"It is important for everyone to travel around and access all services whenever they want, and by parents making this small change to how they park can make a huge difference to other members of the public."
