Diabetes tests offered to public

Testing for diabetes
The blood test takes just seconds

A hospital in Derby organised a drop-in session so people could discover whether they might have diabetes.

The condition is on the increase, but many people do not know they have it. The tests were carried out at Royal Derby Hospital.

People diagnosed with diabetes face regular monitoring of blood sugar and lifestyle and diet changes.

Some people tested on Friday lunchtime were offered diet tips, others were advised to have more tests.
