Phone repair factory is to close

A mobile telephone repair factory in Derbyshire is to close with the loss of 88 jobs.

Managers at Regenersis in Sandiacre's Orchard Business Park said the site had been hit by falling mobile phone sales in the recession.

The firm, which has 11 sites around the world, has offered staff redeployment to its base near Glasgow.

Job centre advisers have also been brought in to help those facing redundancy by the end of the year.

The decision to close follows a consultation with the workforce.

General manager Andy Sheard said: "The workforce recognises our business has been generally declining due to the mobile sector - people are not buying mobile phones as they used to."
