Arson arrest after fire at flats

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of arson after a fire in a block of flats in Derbyshire.

Crews were called to Brindley Court, Allenton, at 1845 GMT on Sunday.

Firefighters said the first floor staircase was well alight and ladders were used to get to people trapped on the top floor.

Several flats were damaged and two people were treated for smoke inhalation. The blaze was brought under control within an hour.

The arrested teenager is in custody.
