Crash victim was charity cyclist

A cyclist from Derby who died in a collision with a car in Devon was taking part in a challenge to cycle the length of the UK, police have said.

Simon Evans, 38, was one of two cyclists hurt in the collision with a Peugeot 106 on the A30 at Tedburn St Mary, near Exeter on Friday.

The other cyclist is being treated in hospital for serious injuries. They had been taking part in a charity event.

The driver of the car, a 22-year-old woman from Okehampton, was arrested.

She has been released on police bail.
