Police warning over cycle thefts

Cyclist have been warned to make sure their bikes are kept safe following a spate of thefts in part of Derbyshire.

Officers said 19 cycles were stolen in the High Peak area in June. More than half of the bikes had been left unattended and unsecure, police said.

Owners have now been urged to security mark the frame of their bike and keep it in a shed or garage if possible.

Pc Russ Barlow also said bikes should be locked to immoveable objects when being left in public places.
